The story itself goes through the different steps required between finding the seed and baking the bread, and at each step the little red hen asks “who will help”. Over and over the answer is “not me” until the little red hen asks “who will help me eat the bread”, and then of course there is more then enough help. When I first announced that I was starting a new PBM magazine I received several replies. There were in fact several very positive replies from people who, while they doubted the viability of a new PBM exclusive magazine, were very supportive. While I have been reevaluating this project I have been slow to respond and follow up with these individuals and for that I apologize. Of the rest of people who received my initial announcement there are two basic types. Those who did not respond at all in spite of their publicly stated interest and support of PBM gaming, namely they run active PBM games, and those who responded “great idea, we really need this, let me know when you get that going”. The same basic answer the little red hen received with her bread baking project. And that’s okay. It tends to validate the basic premise of those who told me there wasn’t enough support for a new magazine, but I can live with that. What I also took from the little red hen story is you can’t have bread without working up to it. Or put another way, perhaps I was over-reaching by how I was trying to start a new magazine. I wasn’t so concerned with size, but more the idea of expecting people to invest their time in something that I had yet to prove. So I’m in the process of reevaluating this project and I hope to have a better idea of what, if anything, I will be done in the coming weeks. ~Mark ~Wy'East Games http://www.WyEastGames.com/trackback.php?id=20080709140637851
