Flagship?

I know a few Flagship readers have monitored this site in the past, so maybe someone with some knowlege will chime in.

It seems the Flagship website been offline for an extended period of time now. I had heard it went offline a few weeks back, but had assumed just a technical glitch that would be quickly resolved. The longer this goes on the more serious it appears. I've sent an email to the last address I had for Carol, the main driving force behind Flagship, but I have yet to hear a reply. I'll update my post as I learn more.

A related side note, as some of you know I had been looking into starting a new PBM magazine, but for various reasons opted to go with a web option instead with some ideas about going print down the road. I've been working on a new site for some time now and with only a few more tweaks I think I may be ready for some user feedback. So if you're interested in seeing a new web based PBM news resounce let me know. Tell me why I shouldn't do it, or what you'd like to see changed.

Flagship?

On May 31st, Carol Mulholland, the editor of Flagship magazine sent an e-mail to me, mentioning that their website was down. I had already tried e-mailing her prior to that, though, to make sure that she knew that it was down. She never got my e-mail, though, since the suspend webhost account impacted her e-mail on her old e-mail address. She e-mailed me that day using a different e-mail address.

Carol wasn't sure what the exact cause was. Tom Fyfe handles that end of things for her, and his computer is presently broken. I've offered to get her a site back up and running, but she hasn't taken me up on that offer - not yet, anyway.

As far as the PBM news resource thing goes, I think that a new PBM resource can only be a good thing. It's not as though the PBM industry suffers from overexposure, these days. Plus, Flagship magazine (and its online presence) continues to suffer from the same underlying problems that have plagued it for years. It is handicapped by its existence and viability being dependent upon others who, whatever their intentions might otherwise be, either can't or won't fix problems that crop up in a timely manner.

This is at the very core of why the magazine's publication deadlines get continually pushed back, and it's also at the very core of why the magazine's website has suffered so much downtime in its various incarnations over the years since they first established a website for the magazine.

Here's a link to download Flagship magzine issue # 130 for free, if you're interested in that:

I went back in to the out box of my e-mail, and I had tried to e-mail Carol back on the morning April 7th, 2010, in order to let her know that the Flagship site was down. So, that website has been down for over two months straight, that I know, due to their webhost account being suspended. It may be due to something as simple as downloads of their free PDF versions of Flagship magazine issues accessible from their site, but until Tom accesses their webhost account's admin control panel, the actual reason for the site being suspended will remain a mystery, I suspect.

Thank you for the update. I knew it had been awhile, but didn't realize it had been two months. I had assumed it was just a minor problem, it was only when it started to drag on that I became concerned. If you speak with Carol be sure to pass along my best, and if there is anything I can do to help I'd be glad to step up as I am able.
